 I originally studied in Oxford to train as an Architect before life's rich path led me to deviate from my intended professional career, seemingly an eternity ago now.  Following some time working on various reclamation and heritage sites for the West Midlands County Council, as it was then, I was fortunate to be able to add considerable commercial trading to my experiences gained in the bullion industry in Hockley, Birmingham.

 

Much later I switched metals and swapped gold for steel, ultimately becoming the Operations Director of a multinational engineering company serving the petrochemical industry. Having loyally served for over twenty years, developing a plethora of transferable skills which I still apply today, I hankered after a little more self satisfaction and decided to take charge of my own destiny.

 

Using my commercial and practical experience I generated an opportunity to establish my own business doing work I really enjoy; designing and building bespoke garden decking, pergolas and other timber garden structures in a rural setting. A few years ago I relocated to Shropshire, and created Decking and Pergolas Ltd, which is a far cry from some of the city based corporations of my past, but infinitely more fulfilling and rewarding.  Being hands-on, dealing with genuine people and receiving a warm smile at the end of a job well done is far more satisfying than perusing a target figure on a performance graph.

 

To date every garden makeover project I've undertaken has led to a very happy customer and a reference, referral or a request to do further work. Quality, creativity and trust to deliver a great job on time are my trademarks.

 

And who is Digger? He's the individual I found inside myself...
